this letter is two sided to August REYMERT.
AUGUST AND HIS BROTHER THEODORE REYMERT
They came to the US and worked, both as lawyers, initially, for their Uncle James Denoon REYMERT.
The first item is a two sided letter to August REYMERT dated 1891 from Theodore REYMERT, a Los Angeles, Attorney, in partnership with his Uncle James D.and another man. A scathing letter about J.D., his work and his mine in AZ.
A far cry from what you will see in WIKI below:>)
"You ask me about J.D. (their Uncle James) getting rich he says he is busted and tells the truth in that particular case. He is trying to practice law in a shabby bnack room. He still owns 1/3 of the Mines, or rather Rose does. The mines are idle in the Sheriff's hands. JD is quarrelling with his associates ? hearing in debt. The associates controlling the property. JD is at their mercy. He is a villaneous man detested by Everybody.
Jimmy(JD?) is loafing in Arizona ...awaiting his trial. The woman he lives with feeds him, so I am reliably informed."
Research suggests that J.D. left his wife Rose and their son James at some point and "took up" with someone else. There is much about this man and the nephews on Genealogy Bank should you choose to look. I will send along a couple of printouts I made as well.
Second page largely about a young man named Peter and J.D. trying to convince Peter to come into the mines with him. (this could be ths son of Jenny, but just a guess)
Interesting and scathing letter between brothers about their Uncle James.
Four other pieces a couple of notes and a lawsuit, plus one that appears that August Reymert law office was 2 Wall St?
The scans will tell you some of the incidents, only a small sample, of James and his life. Then WIKI following will tell you the published story:>)
James DeNoon Reymert (October 24, 1821 – March 25, 1896) was an American newspaper editor, mine operator, lawyer and politician. He was a pioneer settler in Wisconsin Territory, early elected official in the state of Wisconsin and founded the first Norwegian language newspaper to be published in the United States.
/> August Reymert (born 1851 in Vågå , died in 1932 in the United States ) was the son of brigadier Theodor Denoon Reymert, and a lawyer in New York. He was, among other things, president of the Norwegian-American Chamber of Commerce in New York.
When the gun Krag-Jørgensen , furthermore developed by Ole Herman Krag from Vågå and Erik Jørgensen from Asker , was introduced as a standard gun in the US Army in 1892, was lawyer August Reymert Krag-Jørgensen's legal representative. Lawyer Reymert allegedly used the Norwegian-American Senator and Governor Knute Nelson and other influential people in his efforts to make the US Army choose "Kragen" in competition with 27 other weapons
